Spring House B & B

News---- Sunday 23rd June 2013 107 mile Dartmoor Classic cycle race will pass Spring House also last year On Saturday 15th September Stage 7 of The Tour of Britain 2012 took place, they went through Lydford and over Dartmoor, please have a look at our gallery images as they  passed Spring House.

Spring House is situated just a few hundred metres from the famous Lydford gorge, it is not far from the village and between the main gorge entrance and the White Lady waterfall (2nd entrance), the lane outside is on the nation cycle route number 27 which runs from the north Devon coast to the south coast, following this road for 15 minutes by car and you arrive in the centre of Tavistock.

Lydford village is on the site of an Old Saxon Town of Lydford, AD 870-1066 it was a Silver penny minting centre, it has the remains of an old Norman castle dated AD1195, next to the castle is the church of St Petroc built in 1237 the village also has the Castle Inn a traditional 16th century inn.

Spring House is in Dartmoor national park so as a base it is ideal for touring the moor, visiting local towns and villages and also a stop off point en route to and from Cornwall.
